"Eynons in the Narberth Hundred Series"

The "hundreds" were territorial units that were established throughout Wales during the reign of Henry the VIII in the seventeenth century. They were located around a particular parish or group of parishes, and represented an economic, cultural, and political zone that was midway between the concept of religious parish and secular county. In many cases the boundary lines of a particular hundred was drawn based upon traditional parish boundaries. In Pembrokeshire, for example, the various units designated as "hundreds" were created based upon traditional cantref religious center boundaries. By the late seventeenth century there were approximately 90 "hundreds" throughout Wales, of which Narberth was one.

The Narberth Hundred had its economic and political center in Narberth and contained anywhere from 20 to 45 parishes depending on the particular time in history. Over the two hundred years from its inception new parishes in the Narberth Hundred were established as the population rapidly increased, and others were abandoned as people migrated to look for work in Wales and abroad. Thus, the number of parishes was not a constant. The following is a list of those parishes that are contained in the present volume.
